Tightlog Terms of Use

Last updated: 19 August 2026

These terms govern your use of Tightlog, provided by Luke Howsam ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Tightlog.

Apple Standard EULA

On iOS, your use of Tightlog is also governed by Apple's standard licence terms:

Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement

Where these terms conflict with Apple's Standard EULA, Apple's EULA applies to the extent Apple requires.

Your content

You are the owner of the catches, photos, notes and any other content you create. You give us only the permissions needed to store, process, back-up and display that content when you use the relevant features (social, AI etc.). You must hold the rights to anything you upload or share.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the app, attempt to reach another person's account or data, upload unlawful or harmful material, interfere with Tightlog's services, or use the public feed for spam or abuse. We may restrict or withdraw access to protect users and the service.

Objectionable content and abusive behavior

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on the public feed, in groups, in competitions, or in any name, handle or caption you choose. Content that breaks this rule is removed and accounts that post it lose access, without refund.

You may not post, share or send:

How this is enforced:

The same rules apply to the AI features. Prompting the image tools for prohibited content is a breach of these terms: the request is refused, and repeated attempts will be logged and appropriate moderation enforcement will take place

Fair use

Paid plans are sold for normal personal use by one angler. Some features cost us money every time they run, so "unlimited" means unlimited within normal use, not un-metered.

We may apply rate limits, daily caps or queueing to features and we may reduce, suspend or withdraw access where usage is automated, resold, shared across many people, or so far beyond ordinary use that it degrades the service for others or makes it uneconomic to run.

You may not access the app's services through anything other than the app itself, scrape them, resell them, use them to train a model, or use another person's account to get around a limit.

Accounts and your recovery code

An account is optional. When you create one, you are responsible for keeping access to it secure and for activity that happens under it.

Your logbook is tied to a sync key, shown to you as a recovery code. It is the normal way to restore a logbook onto a new phone and anyone who has it can reach your logbook, so store it like a password.

If cloud backup is on and you lose the code, contact support: we hold an encrypted copy of it for that case and can restore access once we have verified it is really you. If cloud backup is off, we hold nothing and cannot recover a lost code.

The public feed

Sharing a catch to the public feed is optional. By sharing, you give us permission to display that content in the app to other users. You are responsible for what you post, and we may remove content or withdraw feed access where it breaks these terms.

Our intellectual property

The app, its design, its code and its branding belong to us. Using Tightlog does not transfer any of that to you, and you may not copy, decompile, resell or create derivative products from it

Age

Tightlog is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to use it. Where a purchase requires an app store account, that account's own age requirements apply.

Safety on the water

Angling takes place near water and in weather that can change quickly. You are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of anyone with you.

Weather, tide, river level, solunar and AI features are general information only. They are built on third-party data that can be delayed, wrong, and/or incomplete, and nothing in the app is a forecast you should rely on to decide whether a location is safe. Always check official sources, follow local rules and access agreements, and use your own judgement to stay safe.

Subscriptions

Tightlog offers weekly, monthly and annual subscriptions and a one-off lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the price shown at purchase. Payment is taken by the app store when the renewal happens. Your subscription continues until you cancel it.

Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Free trials are limited to one per person or Apple Account, and we may withdraw or change trial offers at any time.

We may change prices. A change never affects a period you have already paid for, and where the app store requires your consent to a rise, your subscription will not renew at the new price until you give it.

The lifetime purchase unlocks paid features for as long as Tightlog is operated as a service. It is not a promise that the app, or any individual feature, will exist indefinitely.

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple or Google, not by us. We never take your payment and we cannot see your card, so refunds are handled by the store under the store's own policy.

For purchases on iOS, use reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use the Google Play order history. If you are not sure where to start, contact us and we will point you to the right place.

Two things worth knowing:

Your statutory rights as a consumer cannot be excluded. If you are in the UK or EU, those rights sit alongside the store's policy, and the store handles the statutory cancellation period at the point of purchase.

Third-party services

Tightlog relies on Apple, Google, Clerk, RevenueCat, Firebase, Sentry, Cloudflare, Turso and public weather, tide and river data providers. Those services are run by third parties under their own terms, and we are not responsible for their availability or accuracy. Tightlog is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Tightlog available, but features may change, be withdrawn, or be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, provider outages or reasons outside our control. We may update these terms as the service changes; the date above shows the latest version.

Ending access

You can stop using Tightlog at any time. We may suspend or end your access where you breach these terms, where required by law, or where we discontinue the service. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give reasonable notice where we can, so you can export your logbook.

No warranty and liability

Tightlog is provided as-is and as available. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that stored or synced data will never be lost, and you should keep your own exports of anything you cannot afford to lose.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost profit, or loss arising from decisions you made using information in the app. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
